Arctic Sounder: Rural Alaska broadband project wins regional award

Internet and mobile technology makes life easier, let's face it. However, access to high-speed communication has been elusive for many living in rural Alaska. Bringing telemedicine, online education, and videoconferencing to Alaskans is a big responsibility, and recently the efforts of those who plan, design, build, and manage telecommunications infrastructure projects were recognized.

On Sept. 11, 2014, the GCI TERRA Northwest project was recognized by the prestigious Engineering News Record (ENR) and award the 2014 ENR Best Projects Regional Award for specialty contracting.
