GCI's TERRA Northwest project is building three microwave towers - near Golovin, at Bluff and at Cape Nome to extend a hybrid network of fiber optic cables and microwave towers from Shaktoolik to Nome.
The project promises to bring faster internet services to Nome by increasing bandwidth. Bandwidth is measured in bits per second and represents the capacity for data transfer of a communications channel. The higher the bandwidth, the faster data can be transferred, uploaded and downloaded.
